Are you planning to spend a weekend in the Landes, in New Aquitaine? To inspire you, here are some ideas for discovering the Landes with your family or as a couple!
Do your children need some fresh air?
As soon as they arrive, the whole family will hop on their bikes for a ride on the Vélodyssée, which runs along the Landes coastline from Biscarrosse to Tarnos. The beach is always within easy reach when the urge to swim arises. Between Vieux-Boucau and Capbreton, you can stop at Soustons, Seignosse, on the shores of theHossegor marine lake before setting down your bike in front of the Capbreton pier.
On the forest side, we allow ourselves a secret escapade in the largest pine forest in Europe. Do you know the monumental works of art that populate the contemporary art forest? To find out, go to Commensacq, Sabres or Mont-de-Marsan! And to recharge your batteries, there's nothing like a snack on a farm, in the Landes, before setting off on new adventures: climb the 183 steps of the Contis lighthouse, sail on the Huchet current in adventurer mode, play animal reporters in Labenne, learn to sail with your family on the Biscarrosse lake...
Want to spend a weekend with your partner?
You will be won over! The natural charm of the Landes makes it a privileged destination to recharge your batteries together. On the agenda: relaxation, escape and well-being! Let yourself be tempted by a trip to Capbreton, with a tapas aperitif in front of a romantic sunset over the ocean, a romantic picnic on a secret beach near Vielle-Saint-Girons and Léon, a shopping session in the boutiques ofHossegor... A seaside resort not to be missed in the Landes, Hossegor plays the elegance card with its seafront casino, its bourgeois Hispanic-style villas and its golf course, ranked among the finest in Europe.
History lovers in search of the picturesque will not want to miss a diversion to the pretty spa town of Dax and its Art Deco atmosphere, the Benedictine abbey of Saint-Sever or the small village of Pimbo, the oldest bastide in the Landes, on the borders of the Landes and Béarn.
Epicurean at heart? Take advantage of your weekend in the Landes to discover the gastronomy of the Landes: foie gras and duck breast, oysters from the lake ofHossegor, Kiwi tartar from the Adour and gambas, lacquered duck from the Landes, Macaroniade of beef from Chalosse, and many others. To be enjoyed on a terrace facing the sea or on the Landes producers' markets. A good idea to end this marvellous weekend in the Landes with a gourmet meal. Alas, it is already time to go home, but there is no doubt that you will be back very soon!
