This summer, happiness is on the beach at Moliets-et-Maâ!

Moliets-et-Maâ, a famous seaside resort on the south coast of the Landes, is renowned for its magnificent beaches. Whether you're looking for fine sand for sunbathing or waves for surfing, there's plenty to choose from.

The main beach at Moliets

Looking for a family-friendly beach in Moliets? Look no further, you've come to the right place! Ideally located in the town centre, close to the shops, Moliets' main beach has all the ingredients for a fun day at the beach with the kids.

The beach is very large, with fine sand stretching for almost 1.5 kilometres. The water is very clean and swimming is a pleasure. The beach is supervised in summer, so there's no need to worry while the kids play in the waves.

You're just a short walk from shops, bars and restaurants, so it's easy to take a lunch break or do a little shopping in between dips. And for the little ones, there's even a play area on the sand, right next to the main lifeguard station. Practical, isn't it?

Campsite tip:

This beach is very busy in summer and it's best to arrive not too late in the morning, or at the end of the day.

To get to this family beach, just follow the Avenue de l'Océan to the large free car park, about 400 metres away. And if you head a little further north, you'll discover the mouth of the Courant d'Huchet, a corner of wild nature that contrasts with the bustle of the town centre.

The Chênes Lièges beach

If you're looking for an unspoilt corner of paradise, away from the hustle and bustle of the seaside resort, the Chênes Lièges beach is the perfect place for you and your family. Located around 1 kilometre south of Moliets' main beach, this wild beach offers a tranquil setting in the heart of the Landes forest.

Less easily accessible, it is less busy than its neighbour in the town centre. From mid-June to mid-September, swimming is supervised to ensure the safety of summer visitors, but take care: the currents (baïnes) can be strong and swimming is prohibited outside supervision hours.

Good to know: naturism is tolerated on the Chênes Lièges beach, outside the bathing area. To reach the beach, walk around 900 metres along the dunes from the car park near the Moliets golf course. So pack your picnic basket, beach towels and sun cream and come and discover the Chênes Lièges beach!

Courant d'Huchet beach

To the north of Moliets-et-Maâ, the last beach we'll visit is the Courant d'Huchet beach, a listed natural site in the Landes, with its mouth flowing into the Atlantic Ocean. The setting is wild and photogenic, but not ideal for swimming.

Swimming is not supervised, and is not even recommended or strictly forbidden near the river mouth. People come here mainly to stroll and enjoy the landscape bordered by immense dunes: there are no dwellings in the vicinity.

This wild and isolated beach is popular with surfers, as the ocean can be wild in this area, with waves virtually all year round. Every summer, thousands of European surfers converge here for the surf!

Access to the Courant d'Huchet beach is straightforward, with a small free car park available just off the rue de l'Embouchure.
